Bacteria and Fungi Identification
by rDNA Sequencing AnalysisBased on the length of rDNA used, Laragen currently provides two tests of bacterial identification by 16S rDNA and one test of fungal identification by 28S rDNA. We use Genebank databases to identify the unknown bacteria and fungi. The advantages of bacterial and fungal identification by rDNA sequences are fast turnaround time and accurate results even for problematic bacteria and fungi. All reports include the consensus sequence of the tested bacterial/fungal sequences, the alignment of the top 10 matches at the species or genus level and a phylogenetic tree with these top 10 sequences. Our turnaround time is 5 business days.
Laragen Microbial ID services include:
Sample requirements:
Clients can either send us bacterial/fungal colonies on an agar plate or in liquid culture. Both bacterial and fungal isolates need to be pure cultures. Colonies on the agar plates should be well separated so we can pick up a single colony. Liquid culture should be centrifuged with the cell pellets sent to us in either 15 ml culture tubes or 1.7 ml eppendorf tubes.
Declaration: Laragen is not a clinical lab and is not equipped to deal with pathogenic microbes. We do not accept pathogenic microbes.
Please send a copy of Microbial ID request form with your samples and email us an electronic version to info@laragen.com.
