We founded Laragen in 1995 with the sole intention of making the highest quality DNA Sequencing and Genotyping laboratory in the industry. Our primary goals are to provide impeccable quality and fast DNA sequencing and genotyping services for both academic institutions and private companies.Laragen provides free pick-up services for UCLA, Caltech, USC Main Campus and Cedars Sinai Hospital. Special pickup arrangements can also be made for other clients from the Metro Los Angeles area.
UCI customers can drop samples at Med Surge II, Rm 355. For UCI clients, please drop the samples before 2:00 pm to ensure the same day shipping.
Caltech customers can drop samples at Church 152-29. We pick up samples from Caltech daily at 9:30 am.
USC customers can drop samples at RRI, room 201. We pick up samples from USC main campus on Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning.
Cedars Sinai Hospital customers can drop samples at Davies 5020. We pick up samples from Cedars Sinai 2 to 3 times a week.
Laragen also provides free Bigdye cleanup for ready-to-run samples. With the new DNALIMS system, sequencing results are ready to download the next morning. Some sequences may even be downloaded the same night.
The repeat request submitted before 1:00 pm will be done on the same day. The repeat request submitted after 1:00 pm will be done next day.
With the aid of LongTrace , a free online software, most of Laragen's sequences can reach up to 1100 bp. You can download an example of a long read trace file.

Laragen 2009 Christmas and New Year Schedule Dec 12, 2009--- Laragen will be closed on Dec. 26, 2009 and Jan. 1, 2010, in observance of Christmas and New Year Holidays. We will not pick up samples from UCLA between Dec. 24, 2009 to Jan. 4, 2010. We will not pick up samples from Dec. 24, 28 and 31 from Caltech. If you have more than 40 samples, please call us and we will make a special arrangement to pick up your samples. You can also drop your samples at our facility. Laragen DNALIMS: Laragen's DNALIMS is online on Monday, August 13, 2007. The old system is discontinued on the same day. However, you are still able to retrieve the old sequencing results from 66.245.244.115. We welcome any suggestions and comments. We also appreciate your patience and cooperation at this transition period.
Laragen DNALIMS: Laragen's DNALIMS will be online next Monday, August 13, 2007. The old system will be discontinued at the same time. All users need to create a user account and login our DNALIMS server at sequencing.laragen.com or 66.245.244.196. You can download Laragen DNALIMS User Manual for more information.
Current clients need to manually input the existing client ID numbers in the client ID field when creating a new login account. UCLA clients and other Metro Los Angeles clients who need pickup services please check the sample pickup radio button to ensure that the samples will be picked up on time. Please print two copies of sequence request forms. Keep one for yourself and send one to us with your samples. If you have any questions with regards this new DNALIMS system, please call us at 310 280 0804.Plastic Bags Recycle at Caltech Drop Box: We have saved small plastic bags for DNA samples. Everyone is welcome to recycles these bags. These bags can be found in the drop box at Caltech. We also have some DNA storage boxes available at the drop box for people who have more samples.
Laragen DNALIMS: Laragen has installed a new DNA sequencing management system (DNALIMS). The DNALIMS automatically uploads the sequences to the server and sends an email notification to the users. The DNALIMS also provides direct sequence download and improved sequence request online submission. Using DNALIMS, it is possible that you can download the sequences the same day that we receive your samples.

Laragen Sample Drop Off Box Location at UCI: Laragen has arranged a sample drop off location on UCI campus. UCI clients can drop off samples at Med Surge II, Room 355 (Dr. Civelli's Lab) Monday to Friday before 3:00 pm. We will process these samples on next business day. Laragen Sample Drop Off Box at Caltech: Laragen's drop off box at Caltech is located at 156 Church starting (Dr. Meyerowitz's lab). The best way to find the lab is to enter Church through the North entrance and take the first right. Then walk straight ahead all the way into the lab. The box will be on a table on the left.
